The Kornhamnstorg Droplets

Competition Design

Project: The Droplets
Use: Woodworkshop & Galleries
Year: 2019
Location: Kornhamnstorg, Stockholm
Role: Lead Designer & Visualiser
Stage: Concept Design

The Kornhamnstorg square has had a vibrant history hosting a variety of activities with its prominent locations facing the water and connecting directly to Slussen. This proposal aims to create a dialogue between the alleyways of Gamla Stan, the water and the future of Slussen. The Workshop Centre is spread across the site with a series of varied shaped blocks connecting to each other resembling water droplets. This arrangement allows the scheme to morph into the urban context but yet strike a contrast with the surrounding.

Plan of Kornhamns Torg Droplets

The scheme emphasises on creating a public building that enables the visitors a chance to connect with nature, craftsmanship, history and the city; a bond between the past, present and the future; a snapshot of life in Stockholm.
