Synopsis

"Heidegger believes “Language speaks”. Heidegger’s argue studies how Being is constructed by human consciousness, a path not far distanced from language’s ontology, or how language “is” language. For Heidegger, language is the ‘house of Being’: It is because language is the house of Being, that we reach what is by constantly going through this house. When we go to the well, when we go through the woods, we are always already going through the word ‘well’, through the word ‘woods’ even if we do not speak the words and do not even think of anything relating to language. For Heidegger, we find ourselves ‘thrown’ into a world already articulated through language into significant things:

Language speaks.

If we let ourselves fall into the abyss denoted by this sentence, we do not go tumbling into emptiness. We fall upward, to a height. Its loftiness opens up a depth. The two span a realm in which we would like to become at home, so as to find a residence, a dwelling place for the life of man..."
